Additional Force Deployed to Control Crowd at Railway Stations During Maha Kumbh

Patna: The Bihar Police have stepped up security at railway stations across the state to manage the rising crowd of passengers traveling to the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. Additional Director General (ADG) of Law and Order, Pankaj Kumar Darad, has directed authorities to enhance surveillance and deploy extra personnel at key stations.

With the surge in passengers boarding trains for the religious gathering, an additional police force has been assigned to the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Police Unit to maintain order. The force will be deployed on demand to control overcrowding and prevent any disturbances.

The directive, issued on Tuesday night and communicated on Wednesday, mandates that one company of additional police force be stationed at high-footfall railway stations. The measure aims to prevent vandalism, ensure passenger safety, and maintain law and order.

Key stations identified for increased security include Patna, Hajipur, Darbhanga, Bhagalpur, and Gaya, which are witnessing heavy footfall and the operation of several Kumbh special trains.

The ADG has warned of strict action against station officials if negligence is found in implementing the security plan. The directive also states that any GRP station seeking assistance must receive mandatory support from the local police station to ensure smooth operations.
