Patna: AIIMS Patna is set to appoint 27 new doctors across several key departments, including seven neurosurgeons, as part of efforts to strengthen specialist services and reduce patient waiting times.
The recruitment process has included verification of candidates’ eligibility and documents. Around a dozen candidates have been found provisionally eligible, with their appointments subject to submission of the required documents.
Candidates who do not meet the prescribed eligibility criteria have been declared ineligible.
Surgery Patients Face Longer Waits
Patients requiring surgery currently face some of the longest waiting periods at AIIMS Patna. In several cases, appointment dates are being given two to four months in advance.
The addition of specialist doctors, particularly in Neurosurgery and Orthopaedics, is expected to increase the hospital’s capacity to handle surgical cases and improve access to treatment.
Recruitment Across Key Departments
AIIMS Patna had invited applications for faculty positions, including Assistant Professor and Associate Professor posts, in departments such as Anaesthesia, Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Pathology, Orthopaedics, Radiology, Trauma and Emergency Medicine, and Radiotherapy.
The new appointments will also cover departments including Surgical Oncology, Nephrology, Emergency Medicine and other specialist services.
Document Verification Underway
A number of applicants were found to have deficiencies in documents related to professional experience, No Objection Certificates (NOCs), medical registration and OBC or EWS certificates.
Candidates with such deficiencies will have to submit the required documents during the verification process. Their appointments will be finalised only after the documents are found to be in order and the candidates meet the prescribed eligibility requirements.
