Patna: The Department of Hospital Administration at AIIMS Patna is set to begin a six-day training program titled “Hospital Preparedness During Public Health Emergencies for Hospital Administrators” from 20 January 2025. The program aims to enhance the capacity of hospital administrators to respond effectively to public health emergencies.
Hospital administrators and professionals from Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, and Jharkhand will participate in this cross-state training initiative. The sessions will focus on critical areas such as disaster management protocols, resource mobilization, risk communication, and patient safety during emergencies, promoting collaborative learning and knowledge sharing among participants.
The training will feature an esteemed panel of experts, including Prof. Nirupam Madaan from AIIMS Delhi, Dr. Pankaj Arora from PGIMER Chandigarh, and Prof. Anil Kumar from AIIMS Patna, among others. Participants will benefit from workshops and mock drills on Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) disaster management, as well as hands-on training in fire safety, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Dr. Sujeet Kumar Sinha, Head of the Department of Hospital Administration and Course Coordinator, emphasized the importance of preparedness, stating that the training would equip administrators with tools to develop robust emergency plans and foster collaboration to strengthen healthcare systems.
According to Prof. Anup Kumar, Medical Superintendent of AIIMS Patna, the initiative aims to ensure hospitals are well-prepared to respond effectively to crises such as pandemics, natural disasters, or mass casualty events. Executive Director Prof. Saurabh Varshany added that the training would empower healthcare professionals to manage surges, mitigate risks, and save lives during emergencies.
