Gopalganj/Patna: The Gopalganj police have intensified their investigation into a case registered against Mokama JDU MLA Anant Singh and his supporters over the alleged public display of weapons during a private event.
The case relates to a viral video reportedly recorded at a janeu ceremony in Semraw village under the Mirganj police station area. In the footage circulated on social media on May 2 and 3, some individuals are allegedly seen brandishing firearms while dancing at the event.
Notices issued for verification
According to police, notices have been issued to Anant Singh and others named in the FIR. Authorities said the weapons seen in the video, along with their licences, will be verified as part of the investigation.
Officials also said statements would be recorded from the MLA and his supporters regarding the incident.
FSL and ballistic examination ordered
Police suspect that some of the weapons visible in the viral footage could be prohibited firearms. The video has been sent for forensic examination to establish its authenticity.
A scientific and ballistic analysis of the weapons shown in the footage will also be conducted, police said.
FIR registered against nine people
An FIR has been registered at Mirganj police station against Anant Singh and eight others in connection with the case.
Gopalganj Superintendent of Police Vinay Tiwari said further action would be taken on the basis of findings from the forensic science laboratory and ballistic reports
