Patna: The birth of a daughter to Anushka Yadav on February 8 has triggered a political controversy in Bihar after a medical document surfaced listing Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) leader Tej Pratap Yadav as her husband, an allegation he has categorically denied.
The child’s name was revealed by Anushka’s brother, Akash Yadav, who shared a photograph on Instagram showing the baby holding his finger. Captioned “My Ujjaini”, the post quickly gained traction online.
The personal announcement has since become entwined with a public dispute involving Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. A prescription dated October 7, 2025 from Varlika Motherhood Hospital in Kankarbagh, Patna, where 27-year-old Anushka Yadav was reportedly undergoing treatment under Dr Ritu Raj, has circulated on social media.
The document allegedly lists Tej Pratap Yadav’s name in the column designated for the husband and contains details of Anushka Yadav’s blood pressure, health status and treatment. Its emergence has fuelled speculation and political commentary, with questions raised over the identity of the “Tej Pratap” named in the prescription.
Addressing the issue at a press conference on February 8, Tej Pratap Yadav denied any connection to Anushka Yadav or her child. He alleged that unnamed individuals were attempting to malign him, referring to them as “Jaichands” – a term used to denote traitors.
Yadav claimed that Anushka had links to a man he identified as Akash Bhati and alleged that the child was Bhati’s. He described the episode as a conspiracy aimed at damaging his reputation.
The RJD leader further named five individuals – former MLA Mukesh Roshan, Sanjay Yadav, Rameez, Shakti Singh and Sunil Singh – accusing them of acting in concert to defame him. He also claimed that he had been forced out of his own residence as part of the alleged plot.
There has been no independent verification of the medical document, and those named by Tej Pratap Yadav have yet to publicly respond to his allegations.
