Patna: Apple is preparing a fresh wave of entry-level hardware for release as early as spring 2026, according to a new report by tech analyst Jeff Pu of Haitong International. The company is said to be developing a cheaper MacBook, a new iPhone 17e, and the next generation of its budget iPad — a trio aimed squarely at buyers seeking Apple devices at lower prices.
The research note, obtained by MacRumors, indicates that the 2026 launches will follow the company’s recent push into more affordable smartphones. The iPhone 17e is expected to succeed this year’s iPhone 16e, currently Apple’s most accessible handset after the discontinuation of the long-running SE series.
A low-cost MacBook powered by an A-series chip
Pu suggests the new MacBook may break Apple tradition by running on an A-series processor rather than the company’s M-series silicon. The laptop could ship with the A18 Pro, the same chip used in the iPhone 16 Pro, and feature a 13-inch display with colour options including silver, blue, pink and yellow.
The device is rumoured to be priced between $699 and $899, positioning it far below the existing MacBook Air. Apple is expected to keep costs down by using older design elements, a single USB-C port and 8GB RAM as standard.
iPhone 17e tipped to gain A19 chip and improved camera
The upcoming budget iPhone may offer a notable internal boost, with the A19 chip, an 18MP front camera, and Apple’s in-house C1 modem. Despite these upgrades, analysts warn the iPhone 17e will remain a modest refresh of the iPhone 16e — not a major redesign.
Entry-level iPad to get Apple Intelligence
The 12th-generation iPad is expected to introduce Apple Intelligence features to the budget tablet range for the first time, powered by the A18 processor. Other changes may be minimal, with the device retaining the existing exterior design.
Pu’s projections align with earlier reports outlining Apple’s staggered roll-out of next-generation hardware. The iPhone 18 Pro series and Apple’s first foldable iPhone are expected in late 2026, while the standard iPhone 18 line — including the iPhone 18e and next iPhone Air — is likely to arrive in early 2027.
