Munger/Patna: Member of parliament Arun Bharti has called for a series of measures to strengthen railway infrastructure in Bihar, with a particular focus on improving connectivity in the Jamui region.
Raising the issue publicly, Bharti urged the expansion of the Jhajha–Jamui rail section into a high-capacity corridor, alongside the early commencement of key pending projects. These include the proposed Jhajha–Batiya rail line and the Baijnathpur–Andoli–Jhajha bypass, which he said were crucial for easing congestion and improving regional access.
He also emphasised the need to expedite ongoing capacity enhancement works, including the fourth line between Sitarampur and Jhajha and the third line between Sitarampur and Kiul.
Among new proposals, the MP sought early approval for the Bariarpur–Mananpur and Nawada–Lakshmipur rail lines, describing them as vital for linking underserved areas and supporting economic activity.
Bharti further demanded additional train stoppages at smaller stations such as Katauna and Chaura, and called for premium services like Vande Bharat Express and Amrit Bharat trains to halt at Jamui and Jhajha stations.
Highlighting the Nawada–Pakribarawan–Jamui route as a “lifeline” for the region, he urged increased budgetary allocation to ensure its timely development.
The MP also pointed to broader developments in Indian Railways under the leadership of Narendra Modi and Ashwini Vaishnaw, citing higher capital expenditure and modernisation efforts as signs of progress.
He noted that Bihar has received more than Rs 10,000 crore in railway funding in the latest budget, with work under way on dozens of major projects. Infrastructure such as key rail bridges in Munger, Kosi and Patna, he said, has already strengthened connectivity in the state.
Bharti argued that accelerating pending projects and expanding services would further integrate the region into the national rail network and support economic growth.
