Jamui: Ashish Kumar, Principal of Government Engineering College, Jamui, has achieved a significant academic milestone with over 6,000 citations and an i10-index of 102 on Google Scholar — the highest ever recorded for any faculty member under the Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education, Bihar. The department oversees 38 engineering colleges and 46 polytechnics affiliated with Bihar Engineering University.
Ashish brings with him over 22 years of experience in academic, administrative, and research roles. Recently selected as a commission Principal through the Bihar University Service Commission in VKSU, he has supervised 10 PhD scholars and published more than 200 research papers in reputed journals.
His academic contributions also include 170 book chapters in international publications, 10 international books, and two patents. He has been honoured with numerous awards, including the Vice Chancellor’s Research Excellence Award and the Asia Prominent Scientist Award. Ashish was also recently invited to conduct a workshop by the University of Brawijaya in Indonesia.
Further cementing his global standing, he has been featured in the World Ranking of Top 2% Scientists for both 2023 and 2024, based on assessments by leading international research institutions.
