Patna : Bapu Tower in Patna’s Gardanibagh and Planet Patna have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote heritage education and familiarise the younger generation with Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals, Bihar’s cultural identity and the state’s contribution to India’s freedom struggle.

The partnership will organise a range of educational and cultural activities, including special heritage walks tracing Gandhi’s footsteps, public lectures, historical and art exhibitions, workshops and other learning programmes. The initiative aims to strengthen young people’s connection with their historical roots and encourage greater public engagement with Bihar’s heritage.

The MoU was exchanged between Bapu Tower Director Vinay Kumar and Planet Patna Director Dr Azfar Ahmed on October 13, 2026. Bapu Tower Deputy Director Lalit Kumar Singh and other representatives from both institutions were also present.

Heritage Walks, Lectures And Workshops Planned

Under the agreement, the two institutions will organise educational and cultural programmes in phases. A key component will be special heritage walks based on Mahatma Gandhi’s footsteps, allowing participants to explore familiar streets and locations through their historical significance.

The programme will also include public lectures, art and historical exhibitions, workshops and educational activities designed to make history more accessible to students and other members of the public.

Through these initiatives, the institutions intend to introduce participants to Bihar’s historical sites, cultural traditions and role in the Indian independence movement.

The partnership will use public events and interactive learning opportunities to encourage people to engage with the state’s heritage beyond conventional classroom education.

Focus On Gandhi’s Ideals And Bihar’s Cultural Identity

The agreement places particular emphasis on communicating Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy and values to younger generations. By combining heritage education with public cultural programmes, the initiative seeks to build awareness of the historical events, places and traditions that have shaped Bihar’s identity.

Bapu Tower Director Vinay Kumar described the MoU with Planet Patna as an important step towards strengthening the state’s cultural identity and connecting young people with their historical roots.

He said the joint initiative would work towards bringing Bihar’s rich cultural heritage and Gandhi’s legacy to greater public attention.

The programmes are also intended to help citizens understand the historical significance of locations and traditions associated with Bihar’s contribution to the freedom struggle.

Joint Initiative To Expand Public Engagement With Heritage

The collaboration between Bapu Tower and Planet Patna is expected to create opportunities for students, young people and the wider public to participate in heritage-related activities.

Through heritage walks, exhibitions, lectures and workshops, the institutions aim to encourage a deeper understanding of Bihar’s history and cultural traditions while highlighting the relevance of Gandhi’s ideals for future generations.

The programmes will be organised in phases under the partnership, with a broader objective of promoting cultural awareness, historical learning and public participation in heritage education.
