Bettiah: Bettiah will witness major changes in its traffic movement on Thursday, January 16, due to the arrival of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The district administration and police have announced an extensive traffic plan to ensure smooth movement during the visit and to maintain security. As a result, commuters are likely to face delays, and several important roads will remain closed for many hours. Authorities have urged people to step out only if necessary and to follow the issued route chart.
As per the advisory, the entry of commercial vehicles into the city will be restricted from 5 am to 3 pm. Vehicles coming from Manuapul, Chanpatia, Gopalpur and Narkatiaganj will not be allowed to enter Bettiah during this period. In addition, traffic on the Chanpatia–Kumarbagh road will be completely stopped between 11.45 am and 12.15 pm. Several other roads, including the Cantonment overbridge towards Mainatand and Manuapul and the road from Hariwatika to Station Chowk, will also remain closed during the chief minister’s movement.
Police have also announced full traffic closure on many busy routes across the city. These include Pipra to Hariwatika Chowk, Janta Cinema to Muharram Chowk, Check Post to Circuit House, Bengali Colony to Durgabagh, Lalbazar to Power House Chowk, Janta Cinema to Kaviwar Nepali Chowk, Sovababu Chowk to Satyanarayan Petrol Pump, and Bhola MP Chowk to Alok Bharti Chowk. Between 12 pm and 1.50 pm, vehicles travelling from Pathri Ghat towards Ramna will be stopped at Khushi Tola, while vehicles coming from the city side will be halted at Alok Bharti Chowk.
Special arrangements have also been made for parking and movement near the Ramna meeting venue. No vehicles will be allowed from Meena Bazaar Morh towards Ramna. Vehicles attending the meeting will be parked at the stadium, while vehicles belonging to MPs, MLAs, MLCs, former legislators and senior administrative officers will be parked at GMCH and allowed entry through Gate Number 2. Vehicles coming from Nautan will be parked at Imli Chowk. Commercial vehicles from the bus stand will be stopped at Pipra Chowk if coming from Motihari, and near the airport if coming from Jagdishpur. Parking of any kind, including rickshaws and carts, will be completely banned on major roads such as Kumarbagh to Cantonment Bridge, Station Chowk, Collectorate Chowk, Moharram Chowk, Circuit House, Nepali Chowk, Power House Chowk, Satyanarayan Petrol Pump, Alok Bharti Chowk and the vegetable market road.
