Bhagalpur: The Bhagalpur Engineering College witnessed a student clash recently, garnering widespread attention in the media. The incident has been termed “unacceptable” by the Director-cum-Special Secretary of the Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education, who assured stakeholders that the situation has been brought under control.

Addressing the media, the Director confirmed that academic activities and regular work at the institute have resumed in an orderly fashion. “The condition of the injured individuals has improved, and the department is actively engaging with the principal, faculty, and students to ensure normalcy,” he said.

In response to the incident, two departmental officers were dispatched to Bhagalpur to assess the situation on the ground. Video conferences have also been held with the college administration to discuss measures for preventing future conflicts. Officials have emphasised the importance of strengthening the Anti-Ragging Squad at the institute.

Monitoring efforts have been intensified, with hostel activities being closely observed through CCTV surveillance. Additionally, nightly inspections are being conducted, with GPS tracking used to ensure transparency during these checks.

The department has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards ragging, warning that strict disciplinary action will be taken against offenders. To prevent similar incidents, high-level instructions have been issued to all technical institutions under the department’s jurisdiction.

“The Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education is committed to maintaining the welfare of students and upholding the high standards of Bhagalpur Engineering College,” the Director added.

This incident has prompted the department to adopt a proactive approach, ensuring safety and accountability while reinforcing the college’s academic environment.
