Ara: A 25-year-old student preparing for competitive exams died by suicide in Bhojpur on Sunday. The body of Rakesh Singh, also known as Bhola, was found hanging inside his lodge room in Nawada area’s Night Mohalla of Ara city. Police recovered a suicide note from his pocket in which he mentioned his girlfriend.
According to police, Rakesh wrote in the note, “You have been torturing me for 20 days. I love you so much. Still, you don’t talk to me properly.”
Before taking the extreme step, Rakesh recorded a video in which he is seen crying silently with a noose around his neck. He shared the video with a friend, who rushed to the lodge room but found that Rakesh had already ended his life. Police and family members were then informed.
Background of the Deceased
Rakesh, son of Keshav Pal from Achraj Lal Tola in Krishnagarh police station area, had been living in Ara for the past five years for his studies. He had shifted to the lodge three months ago. His father works as a driver in Dhanbad, while his mother Nirmala Devi passed away in 2016. Rakesh was the youngest among three sisters and two brothers.
According to his friend PK, Rakesh also attended a dance class where his girlfriend used to go. However, neither his family nor friends were aware of when their relationship began.
Sequence of Events
Lodge residents said they last saw Rakesh around 7 am on Sunday. When he did not come out for hours, concerns were raised. By 11 am, he was found hanging. The boys in the nearby rooms informed Rakesh’s father, who in turn alerted other relatives.
Around 1 pm, Sadar SDPO-1 Raj Kumar Sah and Nawada SHO Bipin Bihari reached the spot with a police team and brought the body down. His mobile phone and the suicide note have been seized for investigation.
Police Statement
Nawada SHO Bipin Bihari confirmed the recovery of the note and said, “The suicide note mentions an affair. We are investigating the matter from all angles.”
Rakesh’s brother, who works in Mumbai, and his father from Dhanbad are on their way to Bhojpur.
