Bihar Advances PACS Computerization, Second Phase to Begin Soon

Patna: The computerization of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) in Bihar has made significant progress, with 4,477 PACS now operating digitally under the first phase of the initiative. Of these, 292 have been declared as e-PACS, and a system audit has been completed for 2,548. India currently leads the countrywide campaign for PACS computerization in this phase.
The move towards digital operations has enhanced efficiency and transparency in PACS functioning, making record-keeping easier and reducing the risk of irregularities and fraud. Farmers’ records, loan details, and financial data are now stored digitally, streamlining management and improving coordination with other cooperative societies and departments. The initiative has also facilitated financial inclusion, ensuring that funds reach farmers’ bank accounts directly.
With the success of the first phase, preparations are now underway for the second phase, which aims to bring the remaining PACS under the digital framework.
