Patna: The Bihar government has announced a series of education and sports initiatives that it says are aimed at improving learning opportunities for students in government schools and strengthening sports infrastructure in the state capital. According to Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, the programme includes live digital classes, AI-based learning resources, free coaching for competitive entrance examinations and the development of an AstroTurf facility for hockey players in Patna.
The initiatives are scheduled to begin from July 16, with a phased expansion across government schools in the district, the Deputy Chief Minister said in a post on social media.
What the Government Has Announced
According to Chaudhary, the Bihar School Live Classes initiative will be expanded to 150 government schools in Patna from July 16. The programme is intended to deliver live classroom instruction through digital platforms as part of the state’s efforts to integrate technology into school education.
He said the government plans to extend the initiative to all 422 government high schools in Patna by the end of July.
AI-Based Learning for Classes 9 to 12
The government said students in Classes 9 to 12 will receive access to AI-based learning tools and digital study materials under the programme.
According to Chaudhary, the platform will provide live classes, smart digital content, study notes, mock tests and learning support for national entrance examinations, including the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and the Common University Entrance Test (CUET).
The government said the initiative is designed to strengthen academic support for students studying in government schools through technology-enabled learning resources.
Free JEE and NEET Coaching Planned
The Deputy Chief Minister also announced that free coaching for JEE and NEET aspirants will begin in 10 model schools in Patna.
According to the government, the programme will later be expanded to 146 model schools across the state. Officials said the objective is to provide students from government schools with access to competitive examination preparation without additional coaching costs.
No timeline for the statewide expansion beyond the initial phase was announced.
AstroTurf Facility Proposed at Shastri Nagar
Alongside the education initiatives, the government said it plans to strengthen sports infrastructure at the Girls’ Hockey Training Centre in Shastri Nagar.
According to Chaudhary, the centre will receive modern sports equipment, while an AstroTurf facility will be developed to provide training conditions aligned with national and international standards.
Officials said the project is intended to improve facilities available to hockey players training at the centre.
Government’s Stated Objective
Describing the initiatives as part of the state’s education reforms, Chaudhary said the government’s aim is to build “a quality-driven, technology-enabled and inclusive education system” that offers students in government schools greater access to learning opportunities and a more competitive academic environment.
