Patna: The Bihar Assembly’s budget session entered its fourth day today, marked by vigorous discussions on the state’s financial roadmap. During the deliberations, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary outlined key aspects of the budget, noting a significant increase from Rs 22 thousand crore to Rs 2 lakh 78 thousand crore, with an additional Rs 16 crore allocated this year. In his address, which lasted 24 minutes, Chaudhary invoked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s name 21 times, while mentioning the Lalu family thrice.
Addressing the assembly without directly naming Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, Chaudhary refuted claims of Bihar’s stagnation, asserting that the state has witnessed substantial growth since 2005. He highlighted the creation of 7.5 lakh jobs since then and emphasized infrastructure development, including the construction of 12 bridges across the Ganga, with four already completed.
Praising the leadership of both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Nitish, Chaudhary noted Bihar’s transformation from a consuming to a tax-paying state. He highlighted initiatives such as the establishment of high schools in every panchayat, the introduction of Business Connect, and significant investments in infrastructure, including the development of ethanol plants.
Chaudhary lauded Nitish’s governance model, characterizing it as synonymous with development and good governance. He underscored the administration’s zero tolerance towards crime, asserting that under Kumar’s leadership, the mafia could not infiltrate the Chief Minister’s residence.
The session also witnessed exchanges between members of the ruling and opposition parties. RJD MLA Bhai Virendra raised concerns about certain individuals’ affiliations within the ruling party, prompting a response from Prahlad Yadav, who affirmed his commitment to his current position. The Speaker intervened to maintain decorum in the House.
During the Question Hour, Deputy CM Chaudhary provided insights into the government’s actions against illegal companies operating in Bihar, with 326 cases registered against them. Additionally, assurances were made regarding investigations into the spike in murders during July-December 2022.
The session, characterized by robust exchanges and focused discussions, addressed inquiries across various departments, including Home, General Administration, Finance, Industry, Minority Welfare, Cabinet Secretariat, and Sugarcane Industry, underscoring the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability in governance.
