Many individuals hold the misconception that helmets are unnecessary for women and children. Moreover, there’s a prevalent belief that only bikers need to wear helmets. However, recent reminders emphasize strict adherence to these rules. Only two individuals are permitted on a two-wheeler, with both mandated to wear helmets. Notably, if a child below four years old rides a pillion, the vehicle’s speed cannot surpass 40 kilometers per hour.
Highlighting the lack of awareness in Buxar regarding helmet and seat belt regulations, locals are urged to prioritize safety measures, especially concerning children. Despite prevalent misconceptions, stringent rules dictate helmet use for both genders and all age groups. Moreover, the restriction of two individuals per two-wheeler aims to enhance road safety. Following recent amendments to the Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989, specific provisions now address the safety of children under four years old. These amendments stipulate that children aged nine months to four years can ride pillion on bikes but must utilize a specialized safety harness belt. This measure aims to enhance child safety and reduce risks associated with two-wheeler travel.
Furthermore, exemptions to helmet-wearing requirements are exclusively granted to Sikh followers. This exemption solely applies to individuals wearing turbans. In the absence of a turban, helmet usage remains compulsory. Authorities stress strict enforcement of these regulations, imposing fines of up to one thousand rupees for non-compliance.
