Muzaffarpur: The Bihar government has stepped up preparations for the large-scale development of the revered Baba Garibnath Temple in Muzaffarpur, with plans underway to construct a grand entrance gate and upgrade facilities for devotees and tourists.

The decisions were taken during a review meeting chaired by Bihar Tourism Minister Kedar Prasad Gupta, where officials were directed to prepare a comprehensive action plan for the temple’s development.

Grand Gateway Planned at Fakuli

As part of the project, the government has approved the construction of a grand entrance gate at Fakuli, near Muzaffarpur city. The structure will be named “Baba Garibnath Mandir Dwar”.

Officials said the gateway is expected to improve the visibility and identity of the temple for pilgrims and visitors travelling to the shrine. Discussions were also held on beautification measures and improving the overall accessibility of the temple complex.

Officials Asked to Expedite Work

Senior officials, including Lokesh Kumar Singh and Udayan Mishra, attended the meeting, where progress on several religious tourism projects across Bihar was reviewed.

The Tourism Minister instructed departments to ensure the timely completion of all ongoing construction work and called for regular inspections and monitoring.

Review of Other Religious Tourism Projects

The meeting also reviewed the status of the Mata Janaki Temple project at Punaura Dham.

Progress updates were sought for development works at Vishnupad Temple and the corridor project linked to Baba Hariharnath Temple.

Focus on Tourist Facilities and Cleanliness

Speaking during the meeting, Gupta said the government aimed to improve cleanliness, infrastructure and visitor amenities at major religious destinations across the state.

He said the objective was to provide a better experience for both devotees and tourists visiting Bihar, while also identifying and developing new tourism hubs in the future.
