Patna: The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) is set to introduce online coaching for engineering and medical entrance examinations, including JEE and NEET, for students studying in government model schools. The programme will begin as a pilot project in 10 model schools across Patna district.
The Board has sought the list of selected schools from the District Education Office (DEO), which is expected to submit the names shortly, according to officials.
Pilot Project to Begin in 10 Model Schools
Officials from the District Education Office said the pilot will initially cover 10 model schools in Patna district.
Admissions to Class 9 have already been completed in these schools. The current batch of students will enter Class 10 in 2027, and there are plans to expand the model schools up to Class 12 in the coming years.
Study Material to Be Shared with Other Government Schools
The Bihar Board said the study material developed under the initiative will not be restricted to model school students. It will also be made available to students studying in other government schools.
If the pilot project delivers the expected results, the programme will be extended in phases to additional model schools as well as secondary and higher secondary government schools across the state.
Access to Existing Free Coaching Resources
The Board already operates a free residential coaching programme for 100 students each year, comprising 50 boys and 50 girls.
Students enrolled in the model schools will also receive access to the study material and academic resources used in this coaching programme, allowing them to prepare more effectively for competitive entrance examinations.
IIT Kanpur, PW Among Institutions Supporting Initiative
The District Education Office said discussions are underway with 16 educational institutions and non-governmental organisations to provide free coaching support to students in model schools across Patna district’s 23 blocks.
Among the organisations that have agreed to collaborate are IIT Kanpur, Physics Wallah (PW), Udayan, Adobe Express and the Piramal Foundation.
Coaching Classes Planned After School Hours
According to officials, special coaching sessions will be conducted daily from 5 pm to 8 pm after regular school hours.
Preparations are underway to launch the programme this month. Officials said the initiative aims to improve access to quality competitive exam preparation for students studying in government schools and create greater opportunities for admission to engineering and medical institutions.
