Patna: The Bihar State Cabinet has approved the construction of three new five-star hotels in Patna to enhance tourism and boost industrial growth. These hotels, to be developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, will be constructed on the sites of Hotel Pataliputra Ashok, Bankipur Bus Stand, and the historic Sultan Palace Complex.

Tourism Minister Nitish Mishra expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his support in this decision, highlighting the need for world-class accommodation facilities to meet the demands of the growing number of tourists and the improving industrial climate in the state. “The construction of these five-star hotels will not only stimulate economic activity but also create significant employment opportunities,” Mishra stated.

One of the key highlights of this project is the preservation of heritage. While modern facilities will be incorporated into the design of these hotels, the historical Sultan Palace building will be preserved and transformed into a five-star heritage hotel. On the other hand, the existing structures at the sites of Hotel Pataliputra Ashok and Bankipur Bus Stand will be replaced by new, state-of-the-art five-star hotels.

The planned hotels will include at least 100 rooms at the Hotel Pataliputra Ashok site and a minimum of 150 rooms each at the Bankipur Bus Stand and Sultan Palace locations. Additionally, the option to construct four-star hotels on the remaining land will be available, though it will not be mandatory. The sites will be used for mixed purposes, including the hospitality sector and public retail markets.

The government has set a lease period of 60 years for the operation of these hotels, with the option to extend the lease for an additional 30 years.
