Patna: The Bihar government has approved development projects worth Rs 50,000 crore as part of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Pragati Yatra, aimed at accelerating growth across the state. The projects span multiple sectors, including infrastructure, health, education, and industry.
A total of 243 schemes worth Rs 30,000 crore have been sanctioned for south Bihar. Of these, 123 were approved at the department level, while 120 received clearance from the Council of Ministers. Similarly, for north Bihar, 187 schemes amounting to Rs 20,000 crore were sanctioned, with 67 approved at the department level and 120 at the ministerial level.
The meeting of state cabinet, held on Tuesday, sanctioned 120 projects across various sectors. These include five projects for the Energy Department, two for the Industry Department, and one each for the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department, Minor Water Resources Department, Minority Welfare Department, and Public Health Engineering Department. Additionally, 64 road construction projects, 16 water resource schemes, and multiple initiatives in urban development, tourism, and sports have been approved.
As part of the Pragati Yatra initiative, Bihar will also see the establishment of seven new medical colleges, nine degree colleges, 14 sports complexes, 24 religious site developments, nine power grids, six drainage cleaning projects, eight industrial expansion projects, seven Atal Kala Bhawans, and 189 road and bridge construction schemes.
The large-scale investment aims to strengthen Bihar’s infrastructure and boost economic growth, ensuring balanced development across the state.
