Bihar Cabinet Undergoes Major Reshuffle: Education Portfolio Shifts from Chandrashekhar to Alok Mehta
Patna: In an unexpected turn of events, the Mahagathbandhan government in Bihar, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has undergone a significant rearrangement of ministerial portfolios. The crucial portfolio of Bihar Education Minister, previously held by Prof Chandrashekhar, has now been entrusted to Alok Kumar Mehta, who previously led the Land Revenue Department.
Chandrashekhar will now take charge of sugarcane industries department, while Lalit Yadav, another RJD minister, assumes an additional role in the Land Revenue Department. Currently overseeing the Public Health Engineering Department, Yadav’s expanded responsibilities mark a notable development in the cabinet reshuffle.
All three ministers affected by these changes are affiliated with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), underlining the political dynamics behind the realignment of ministerial portfolios.
The decision, reportedly made after meeting between CM Nitish, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, and Deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Friday, signifies a strategic move that follows deliberations between the three political leaders. The cabinet reshuffle reflects a recalibration of key ministerial roles and administrative responsibilities in the wake of rumored rift in ruling Mahagathbandhan.
