Bagaha: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar kicked off his 15th Pragati Yatra with a visit to Ghotwa Tola in Valmikinagar in West Champaran district, where he inaugurated projects totaling Rs. 701 crore. The Chief Minister spent 17 minutes in the village, planting trees, meeting women associated with Jeevika self-help groups, and inspecting handmade products at stalls set up by the groups.
As part of the yatra, Kumar laid the foundation stone for 41 schemes aimed at boosting development in the Bagaha subdivision. He later traveled to Bettiah, where he inaugurated a power project worth Rs. 139 crore. The project is expected to ensure a consistent and high-voltage power supply to Don, Diara, and forest areas, improving electricity access in these remote regions.
Ghotwa Tola was meticulously prepared for the Chief Minister’s arrival, with roads decorated and villagers lining the streets to welcome him. Women from the village greeted the CM with floral showers, underscoring the enthusiasm for the development projects.
The Jeevika Didis, part of a government initiative to empower women through self-help groups, showcased their handmade goods at special stalls during the visit. The CM interacted with the women and praised their efforts, reiterating the government’s commitment to supporting grassroots entrepreneurship.
Strict security measures were in place throughout the Chief Minister’s visit, with a heavy police presence ensuring order in the area. The 15th Pragati Yatra is part of Nitish’s ongoing effort to assess development work across the state, launch new initiatives, and engage with local communities.
