Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has proposed the extension of Patna’s JP Ganga Path both eastward and westward, aiming to connect the landmark riverfront road to Buxar and Mokama.
Reviewing various schemes of the Road Construction Department on Monday, Nitish said he envisioned the JP Ganga Path stretching from Digha in Patna to the Koilwar bridge and further to Buxar in the west, while extending from Didarganj to Karjan and Mokama in the east.
Calling JP Ganga Path a “special project”, Nitish highlighted its strategic importance in enhancing connectivity along the Ganges riverbanks. He said that linking the various bridges already built over the Ganga to the pathway would significantly improve travel between North and South Bihar, easing traffic congestion and reducing distances.
During the review, CM Nitish also instructed officials to expedite work on various roads and bridges approved under his recent Pragati Yatra, emphasising faster completion across districts.
The Chief Minister noted that rural roads across Bihar were being widened, while several major roads and bridges were under construction with central government support. He added that if further infrastructure was needed to strengthen inter-district connectivity, the Road Construction Department should assess the requirements, with the state government ready to fund additional projects independently.
