Patna: Cold conditions accompanied by fog are expected to continue across Bihar, with recent rainfall and stronger winds triggering a drop in temperatures in at least 30 districts, including Patna.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), dense fog is likely during the morning hours in several parts of north and south-west Bihar. Visibility in affected districts may fall to between 50 and 200 metres, potentially disrupting road and rail traffic.
Districts expected to see dense fog include West and East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Vaishali, Samastipur, Bhojpur, Buxar, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad and Arwal, the IMD said.
Temperature readings on Friday reflected sharp variations across the state. Forbesganj recorded the highest daytime temperature at 25.2C, while Valmikinagar saw a much cooler 18C. At night, Sabour was the coldest at 10C, whereas Katihar recorded the highest minimum temperature at 15.9C.

Meteorologists expect a gradual warming trend, with both day and night temperatures likely to rise by 2–4C over the next four days. Light rainfall is forecast on February 3 in parts of southwestern Bihar, including Bhojpur, Buxar, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad and Arwal.
For Patna, no dense fog alert has been issued, though light to moderate fog is possible in the morning. The weather is expected to remain largely clear during the day, with maximum temperatures around 22–24C and minimum temperatures between 10 and 12C.
Weather officials said the current conditions are being influenced by changing wind patterns and residual moisture in the atmosphere, with fog likely to thin out as daytime temperatures rise.
