Patna: Patna police carried out a significant raid at the residence of former village head and sand trader Sanjay Yadav in Raghopur, Bihta on Thursday, seizing a cache of weapons and live ammunition and arresting two individuals. The operation comes amid heightened security measures ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
City SP Bhanu Pratap Singh confirmed that police had received intelligence indicating the presence of illegal arms in the area. “Following the information, a special team was formed under the guidance of the Patna SSP, and the operation was launched,” he said. The raid involved teams from Bihta and neighbouring police stations, with officers including Danapur DSP-2 Amrendra Kumar Jha.
The residence of Sanjay Yadav, a prominent figure in the local sand trade, was the focus of the operation. Officials said the discovery of weapons at the home of a known local influencer is a serious concern, particularly in the sensitive pre-election period, as it could threaten peace and order in the district.
Police are continuing to interrogate the two arrested individuals to determine the purpose of the weapons and whether they are linked to criminal or election-related activities. A full briefing on the raid is expected from the Patna SSP on Thursday.
