Bihar: Darbhanga’s Sushant Mishra Secures a Whopping Rs 2.20 Crore Deal with Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024 Auction
DARBHANGA – In a remarkable achievement, Sushant Mishra, hailing from Tumol village in the Alinagar block of Darbhanga district in Bihar, has clinched a lucrative deal with the Gujarat Titans for a staggering Rs 2.20 crore in the IPL 2024 auction. This impressive feat is 11 times more than his initial base price of Rs 20 lakh.
Known for his prowess in fast bowling and proficient left-handed batting, Sushant has become the talk of the town, triggering a wave of jubilation in his entire village.
The news of Sushant’s exceptional IPL auction success has prompted scores of well-wishers to flock to his residence, extending their heartfelt congratulations. Sushant’s grandfather, Krishna Dev Mishra, shared that despite facing opposition to his sports pursuits, even within the family, they had to bow down to his unwavering passion for the game.
The players’ auction for IPL 2024 took place on Tuesday at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, where Sushant emerged as a sought-after talent and secured his place in the Gujarat Titans squad. His initial base price was set at 20 lakhs.
Recalling Sushant’s cricket journey, his grandfather revealed that the young cricketer has harbored a love for the sport since childhood. Born in Ranchi, Sushant returned to Darbhanga at the age of four and a half, where he pursued his education while refraining from formal cricket coaching. Despite opposition from family members, Sushant excelled in academics, consistently scoring 90 percent marks until class 10.
He never opted for tuition, firmly believing that coaching would compromise his playing time and impact his studies. Sushant actively participated in Under-14, Under-16, Asia Cup, and the Under-19 Cricket World Cup, where he delivered a stellar performance against Pakistan in the semi-finals. His lethal bowling secured three wickets, restricting Pakistan to a mere 172 runs, and India emerged victorious with a decisive 10-wicket win. This particular tournament showcased Sushant’s exceptional cricketing skills.
Expressing her joy, Sushant’s grandmother shared that the cricketer would always insist on gifting her a bat and ball whenever he visited the village.
Born on November 23, 2000, in Ranchi, Sushant made his debut for the Jharkhand domestic team in 2021 and showcased stellar performances in the Ranji Trophy in 2022. He was previously selected for Hyderabad in IPL 2022 and has also represented the Indian Under-19 team. At 23 years old, Sushant Mishra continues to make waves in the cricketing world while proudly representing Jharkhand.
