Patna: Vehicles will soon be seen running on the Bihta-Danapur elevated road, with the state government confirming that the project is expected to be completed by September 6, 2026. On Saturday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inspected the construction site of the elevated road and the SDRF headquarters in Bihta, reviewing progress and directing officials to maintain quality and adhere to timelines.
The 25.081 km long four-lane elevated road, built at a cost of Rs 1,969.39 crore, will start from Danapur railway station and connect to Koilwar bridge. It is part of the Patna-Buxar four-lane road project and will include four bypasses at Neuraganj, Panal, Kanhauli, and Vishnupura.
Work on the project began on March 11, 2024. Officials stated that the first phase has been completed two months ahead of schedule, with 30.07% of the total construction finished so far. Of the 387 pillars planned, 289 are under construction. The project also includes four major bridges, 10 minor bridges, 37 culverts, and one underpass.
CM Nitish said that the elevated road will ensure smooth traffic from Koilwar to Danapur and improve connectivity to Bihta airport. During his visit, he also inspected the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) headquarters being constructed in Bihta, reviewing progress on the administrative building, auditorium, training centre, quarter master store, national-level swimming pool, residences for officers and personnel, barracks, and sports facilities.
Senior officials, including the Secretary of Building Construction Department Kumar Ravi, Development Commissioner Pratyaya Amrit, Secretary of Road Construction Department Sandeep Pudukalkatti, BSRDC MD Shirshat Kapil Ashok, and SDRF Commandant Rajesh Kumar, briefed the Chief Minister on both projects. He instructed them to maintain construction quality and aim for completion before the scheduled deadline.
