Bihar: Police Sub Inspector Crushed to Death by Liquor Smuggler in Begusarai

BEGUSARAI – Sub Inspector Khamas Chaudhary, posted at Naokothi police station, lost his life while on duty on Tuesday midnight.

The District Superintendent of Police, Yogendra Kumar, revealed that the Naokothi police station had received intelligence on Tuesday night about a liquor smuggler planning to pass through the Chhatauna Budhi Gandak river bridge in an Alto car.

To apprehend the smuggler, Inspector Chaudhary and three Home Guard Jawans were dispatched to the Chhatauna bridge of the Budhi Gandak river.

The Inspector and the Home Guard personnel stationed themselves on the road after parking their patrol car on the Chhatauna Budhi Gandak river bridge.

The driver of the Alto car, upon spotting the police vehicle, accelerated and fled the scene, colliding with Inspector Chaudhary in the process.

Inspector Chaudhary fell onto the stones and tragically lost his life on the spot. One Home Guard Jawan sustained injuries in the incident and is currently undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital Begusarai.

DSP Bakhri and the Naokothi police station in-charge were dispatched to the scene following the incident.

The driver of the car has been nabbed, and a rigorous interrogation is underway, as stated by SP Kumar.

Inspector Chaudhary hailed from Markar village under Rahika police station in the Madhubani district of Bihar. His father’s name is Bhola Chaudhary.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh took to targeting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, linking the incident to the state’s liquor policy. Singh asserted that thousands of people have faced imprisonment due to the flawed liquor policy, with innocent lives lost to liquor smugglers.
