Patna: Under its flagship incentive scheme for Extremely Backward Classes, the Bihar government has disbursed Rs 50,000 each to 1,728 candidates who cleared the preliminary stage of the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination.

Run by the Department for the Welfare of Backward and Extremely Backward Classes, the Chief Minister’s Extremely Backward Class Civil Services Incentive Scheme aims to alleviate the financial burden of civil services preparation, particularly for candidates advancing to the mains and interview stages.

A total of 2,099 applications were received under the scheme, out of which 1,728 were deemed eligible and awarded the financial support.

In addition to BPSC aspirants, the initiative has also extended aid to candidates appearing for central-level competitive exams. Twenty-one aspirants who cleared the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2024 received Rs 1 lakh each.

Further support includes:

  • Rs 50,000 for each eligible candidate among 33 applicants preparing for UPSC CDS, CAPF, NDA, and NA.
  • Rs 30,000 each to 165 candidates set to appear for SSC CGL.
  • Rs 30,000 each to 27 applicants preparing for banking and financial services exams such as RBI Grade B, SBI, and IBPS.

The assistance ranges from Rs 30,000 to Rs 1 lakh, depending on the exam level. Eligible candidates can apply via the official portal: https://bcebconline.bihar.gov.in.

The Bihar government said the scheme reflects its commitment to improving access to prestigious public sector roles for underrepresented communities and strengthening social equity through education and employment.
