Hajipur/ Patna: East Central Railway (ECR) General Manager Chhatrasal Singh has laid out a sharp focus on safety, infrastructure upgrades, and freight growth in a high-level strategy meeting held at the railway zone’s Hajipur headquarters, signalling a determined push for operational excellence in the upcoming fiscal year.
Senior departmental heads participated in person, while Divisional Railway Managers from all five divisions joined via video link. The meeting covered wide-ranging priorities—from improving station facilities and reducing asset failures to ensuring stronger passenger services.
Safety takes centre stage
Track maintenance and accident prevention formed a core part of the discussions, with particular stress on minimising human and cattle run-overs. The ECR GM instructed divisional teams to roll out awareness campaigns and intensify safety drives.
“Alongside robust infrastructure, we must engage the public to ensure safer rail operations. Safety is a shared responsibility,” Singh said, urging collaboration between the railway administration and local communities.
He also directed divisions to conduct targeted ticket-checking drives to improve passenger compliance and streamline services.
Freight and infrastructure growth on the agenda
With ECR being a vital freight corridor in eastern India, Singh called for a comprehensive plan to increase cargo loading and expand logistics partnerships in 2025–26.
Updates were also reviewed on key infrastructure initiatives, including the construction of Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and Road Under Bridges (RUBs), and ongoing station redevelopment projects. Singh asked officials to fast-track completion timelines to improve overall passenger experience and regional connectivity.
