Patna: A large number of visitors gathered at the Transport Department’s pavilion at Gandhi Maidan on Monday, the second day of Bihar Diwas celebrations, to explore various schemes and road safety awareness initiatives. The exhibition saw continuous footfall, with people engaging in interactive activities and competitions.

Over 16,000 Participants Engage in Road Safety Competitions

More than 16,000 children enthusiastically took part in road safety-themed painting, quiz, and slogan competitions. The winners were awarded helmets by the Transport Department to promote the importance of safe driving practices.

‘Wear a Helmet, Stay Safe’ Campaign

Transport Secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal urged attendees to wear helmets while riding two-wheelers, emphasizing that road safety is a collective responsibility. “Using a helmet is not just about following the law—it is about protecting lives,” he said.

Helmets Awarded to Competition Winners

State Transport Commissioner Naveen Kumar distributed helmets to the winners of various competitions and appealed to parents and children to adhere to road safety rules. He highlighted the necessity of wearing helmets and seatbelts to prevent accidents.

15,000+ Signatures for Road Safety Pledge

More than 15,000 visitors participated in the road safety signature campaign, pledging to follow traffic rules.

The Transport Department’s pavilion featured several engaging activities aimed at raising road safety awareness:

  • Road Safety Selfie Point: Visitors took selfies and received instant photographs.
  • Signature Campaign: Attendees pledged to follow road safety rules.
  • Competitions & Prize Distribution: Helmets were awarded to winners of painting, quiz, and slogan contests.
  • Traffic Park for Children: A hands-on experience for children to learn traffic rules.
  • Road Safety Puppet Show: An entertaining performance highlighting the importance of road safety.
  • On-Spot Mobile Number Update: Free updates for vehicle registration certificates and driving licences.
  • Driving Training on Simulator: Visitors tested their driving skills through a simulator.

Public Praise for the Exhibition

Visitors lauded the Transport Department’s efforts, stating that the exhibition effectively raised awareness about road safety among both children and adults. Many described it as a commendable initiative to instill responsible road behaviour and bring about a positive change in society.
