Patna: The Bihar Education Department has directed all District Education Officers (DEOs) to strictly follow the existing Saturday half-day schedule and refrain from issuing separate instructions at the district level without departmental approval.
The directive was issued on Monday following reports that separate instructions regarding school operations on Saturdays were being issued in some districts without authorisation from the competent authority.
According to the department, all government schools across Bihar are required to operate from 9:30 AM to 1 PM on Saturdays.
No Change In Saturday Schedule
The department has clarified that no change has been made to the existing Saturday school schedule.
The letter, issued by the Secondary Education Office, said DEOs must ensure uniform implementation of the department’s instructions across their respective districts.
Special Secretary Dharmendra Kumar issued the directive to all DEOs following an order from Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari.
Disciplinary Action Warned
The department has warned that disciplinary action will be initiated against any DEO who fails to comply with the instructions.
Officials have been directed to ensure that schools across the state follow the same Saturday operating hours and that no district-level modification is made without approval from the department.
The directive is aimed at maintaining uniformity in the implementation of school timings across Bihar.
