Patna: With the Bihar Assembly elections entering high gear, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav kicked off his campaign in Simri Bakhtiyarpur on Friday, delivering a fiery speech that targeted both Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the BJP-led NDA alliance.
“My age may be young, but my word is firm,” Tejashwi declared before a packed crowd, setting the tone for what he described as a campaign for “a new Bihar.” He vowed to bring change after “20 years of misrule” and accused the ruling alliance of neglecting women, youth, and the poor.
The young leader, recently declared the Mahagathbandhan’s Chief Ministerial candidate, told voters that Bihar’s time for transformation had come. “The election bugle has been sounded. On November 14, the results will tell who truly stands with Bihar’s people,” he said, urging voters to “end the 20-year-old rule of inefficiency.”
“Bihar Deserves A Fresh Start”
Tejashwi Yadav emphasised his vision for an inclusive and corruption-free Bihar. “We want to build a Bihar where no one has to pay bribes for work, where youth don’t have to migrate for jobs,” he said. He claimed that during his 17-month stint in government, over five lakh people were given jobs, and “millions more were in the pipeline.”
“We don’t make empty promises; we deliver. My age may be young, but my commitment is solid,” he said, reiterating his campaign slogan.
Jibe At Nitish And The BJP
In a particularly emotional moment, Tejashwi took a dig at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, expressing “pain” at how the BJP has “used and sidelined” him. “Amit Shah himself said MLAs will decide the CM after elections. This means they have no place for Nitish Kumar anymore,” he said.
“They have hijacked my uncle. We wanted to make him CM once again, but you know him—he keeps switching sides. What’s worse is that the BJP is now doing injustice to him,” he added.
“Ask NDA For 20 Years Of Answers”
Taking aim at Prime Minister Modi and the BJP, Tejashwi said, “For two decades, they’ve run Bihar, yet it remains the poorest state. Let them show the report card.”
He promised that if elected, his government would focus on “Kamai, Sinchai, Dawai aur Karwai” (employment, irrigation, healthcare, and governance). “Bihar will be run by Biharis, not by outsiders from Gujarat,” he said to loud cheers.
