Gaya: In a decisive pre-election crackdown, the Gaya district administration has barred 17 criminals from the district and issued notices under the Bihar Crime Control Act (CCA) to 114 others to maintain a safe and fair environment for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
The measures, announced by District Election Officer Shashank Shubhankar, aim to prevent disruption by antisocial elements during the polling period. Authorities are keeping a close watch on former offenders known to have interfered in previous elections.
Among those barred were residents from Bodhgaya, Chandauti, Maur, Gurua, and Koch police jurisdictions, including Mahesh Yadav, Umesh Yadav, and Manish Kumar, who were shifted to other police areas under strict supervision. The 114 individuals served with CCA notices are also being closely monitored, with further legal action pending where required.
Shubhankar emphasised the administration’s commitment: “In Gaya district, every effort is being made to ensure a peaceful, clean, and completely free-of-fear election. The barring of 17 criminals and CCA notices against 114 others are part of this comprehensive strategy.”
