Patna: The Bihar government has announced that state employees will receive their September salaries from Thursday, in a move aimed at easing financial pressures during the Durga Puja festival.
Anand Kishore, principal secretary of the finance department, issued the order on Wednesday, confirming that staff of the state government, the high court, the legislative assembly and council, and the Raj Bhavan will all be paid in advance. Treasury officers across the state have been instructed to begin disbursing salaries immediately.
Officials said the decision was taken to ensure that employees do not face financial difficulties during the festival period. Many welcomed the move, with workers describing it as a timely relief that would allow them to celebrate without concern.
The measure is also expected to boost spending in local markets. With salaries arriving before the holiday, retailers and small traders are likely to see an increase in sales as families prepare for celebrations.
