Patna: Bihar Energy Secretary and Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited (BSPHCL), Ajay Yadav, IAS, visited Muzaffarpur on Sunday to review power supply arrangements and assess measures to ensure reliable and uninterrupted electricity in the district.
During his stay, Yadav reviewed the power supply situation and tripping issues in the region. At the Khabra Power Sub-Station, he inspected the infrastructure and directed officials to ensure optimal utilisation and development of the residential premises and nearly 19.96 acres of available land.
He also stressed the need to strengthen operational arrangements and improve the reliability of electricity supply.
At the Bhikhanpura Grid Sub-Station, Yadav reviewed the functioning of the grid and directed officials to address technical issues and take effective measures to reduce tripping and transmission-related power losses.
Rooftop Solar Expansion Under PM Surya Ghar Scheme
Yadav also reviewed the progress of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana during his Muzaffarpur visit.
He inspected a rooftop solar plant installed at Madhopur Panchayat in Mushahari block under the scheme’s ULA model. He assessed the quality of the installation and reviewed the progress of the project.
The Energy Secretary later visited Siddharthpuram Colony in Ramdayalu Nagar, where more than two dozen rooftop solar plants have been installed.
Appreciating the concentration of rooftop solar installations in the residential colony, Yadav directed officials to explore the development of similar “Solar Colonies” in other urban areas of Bihar.
The initiative is aimed at encouraging wider adoption of rooftop solar systems in residential areas and supporting the state’s renewable-energy expansion.
Officials Told to Reduce Tripping and Power Losses
Following the field inspections, Yadav and Muzaffarpur District Magistrate Kumar Gaurav, IAS, visited the CT (Current Transformer) Lab of the Muzaffarpur Electricity Supply Division and reviewed repair and other necessary works.
They also participated in a tree plantation drive.
A detailed review meeting was subsequently held at the District Auditorium in the Muzaffarpur Collectorate with electrical engineers and solar vendors.
The meeting covered operation and maintenance, quality and reliability of power supply, revenue collection, reduction of tripping and power losses, and progress under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
‘Reliable Power Supply Is State Government Priority’
Addressing the meeting, Yadav said ensuring reliable and quality electricity supply remains a priority of the state government.
He directed officials to take effective measures to reduce tripping, improve revenue collection and performance, and achieve the targets set under the PM Surya Ghar scheme in mission mode.
Officials were also instructed to undertake planned and time-bound measures to ensure that assigned targets are achieved within the stipulated timelines.
The inspection comes as Bihar continues to push rooftop solar adoption alongside efforts to improve the reliability and efficiency of its power distribution network.
