Patna: Meritorious students from across Bihar were honoured on National Science Day for their performance in the Dr. C. V. Raman Talent Search Test in Science–2025, a state-run examination designed to identify young scientific talent.
The felicitation ceremony was held at Gyan Bhavan in Patna and organised by the Department of Science, Technology & Technical Education. Students, parents and guardians from across the state attended. The event began with floral tributes to the portrait of Sir C. V. Raman.
Students from classes 6 to 12 who performed well at state and district levels were recognised. Twenty-one top-performing students received medals, certificates and laptops. District-level first-place winners were awarded Rs 5,000 and second-place winners Rs 3,000, alongside medals and certificates. All awardees were also given Rs 1,000 as travel assistance to encourage participation from remote areas.
Addressing the ceremony, Ahmad Mahmood, additional secretary-cum-director of the department, said talent search examinations help identify scientific aptitude and prepare students for higher-level competition. He announced that awardees would receive free access to virtual reality shows at Tara Mandal and complimentary visits to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Science City.
The examination, held between November 29 and December 1, 2025 across all districts, saw participation from 69,107 registered students, of whom 48,249 appeared. Conducted at government engineering and polytechnic colleges, it aimed to promote scientific learning among students from classes 6 to 12. Participating students included 28,315 boys and 19,934 girls.
Officials present at the event included Dr Anant Kumar, Bihar Council on Science & Technology project director; Prof. Suresh Kant Verma, vice-chancellor of Bihar Engineering University; and Dr Chandrashekhar, secretary of the State Board of Technical Education. Teachers, parents and students also attended.
