Patna: The Bihar State Film Development and Finance Corporation has inaugurated a new office at the cultural complex of Bharatiya Nritya Kala Mandir on Fraser Road in Patna, marking a step aimed at strengthening the state’s growing film sector. The facility was formally opened on Monday by the corporation’s general manager, Ruby.
All operations of the corporation will now be conducted from the new office located on the third floor of the Bihar Lalit Kala Akademi building within the cultural complex. Officials said the shift was necessary as the corporation’s responsibilities have expanded following the implementation of the Bihar Film Promotion Policy.
Speaking at the inauguration, Ruby said the increasing number of filmmakers exploring locations in Bihar has created a need for stronger institutional support. She noted that the new office has been developed keeping future expansion in mind, as the state continues to attract production teams interested in shooting across its scenic and cultural sites.
According to the corporation, the growing interest in film production is also creating opportunities for local artists and technicians. The organisation said it is working to build a supportive ecosystem for filmmaking while promoting Bihar’s heritage and tourism through cinema.
Ruby also highlighted efforts to support film education. Scholarships worth more than Rs 19 lakh have been awarded to 29 students from Bihar studying at leading film institutes, including the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute of India and the Film and Television Institute of India.
To mark the upcoming Bihar Diwas celebrations, the corporation has also planned special screenings of classic films. Nadiya Ke Paar will be screened at Patna Museum on March 22, followed by a screening of Teesri Kasam at Aryabhatta Knowledge University on March 23.
Several officials and staff members of the corporation attended the inauguration, including film consultant Arvind Ranjan Das and accounts consultant B. D. Mishra, along with other members of the team.
