Bihar: Glass Panes Shattered as Students Disrupt Jaynagar-Samastipur Special
Samastipur – Several students brought the Jaynagar-Samastipur special train to an unnecessary halt between Hayaghat-Rambhadrapur station on the Samastipur-Darbhanga railway section by pulling the chain. This led to a dispute between the students and passengers, resulting in a significant scuffle.
The group of students disembarked after the train reached Rambhadrapur station, where they began pelting stones at the train bogie.
The stone pelting resulted in the breakage and damage of many glass windows, including two AC bogies and three general coaches. A total of 40 window glasses across five bogies were shattered during the incident.
Numerous passengers suffered injuries as a result of the stone pelting, with more than six reported injuries. Fortunately, all passengers in the affected bogie narrowly escaped harm. Passengers managed to apprehend one of the students who had thrown stones.
News of the incident caused panic in the railway department, prompting a prompt response. An FIR has been registered by RPF Inspector Ved Prakash Verma against one identified and five unidentified persons involved in the case.
The teenage student involved in the incident from Ratwara village in the Kalyanpur police station area, will be referred to the Child Protection Unit on Monday.
According to reports, the students were returning from a wedding ceremony when the incident occurred. Upon reaching platform number two of Samastipur Junction at 09:28 pm, an RPF team promptly arrived at the scene. Passengers detained a juvenile involved in the incident, providing details to the authorities.
During interrogation, the boy explained that he, along with friends, was returning to Rambhadrapur after attending a wedding ceremony at his grandmother’s house in Hayaghat. A dispute with passengers arose during the journey regarding chain pulling, leading to the subsequent stone-throwing incident as the train departed from Rambhadrapur.
Upon leaving Rambhadrapur, the train reached Kishanpur station, where passengers informed the train manager about the broken glass panes in the bogies. The train manager promptly reported the entire incident to control, leading to an investigation by the RPF even before the train’s arrival.
