Bihar Government Asserts No Immediate Flood Threat, Prepares for Potential Risk
Patna: The Bihar government has asserted that there is currently no flood situation in the state. This declaration came following a video conference meeting held by the Disaster Management Department with Additional District Magistrates (ADMs) focusing on disaster preparedness.
Pratyaya Amrit, Additional Chief Secretary of Disaster Management, convened the meeting with ADMs from 29 districts that have been identified as flood-prone. Although no immediate threat has been identified, these districts have been placed on alert to prepare for any potential flooding. The meeting included a review of rainfall patterns and river water levels.
Amrit emphasised the need for vigilance across all districts, instructing officials to be prepared to act swiftly in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for flood disaster management should the need arise.
The District Emergency Operation Center has been directed to operate round-the-clock. Commandants of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), who were present at the meeting, were instructed to keep all teams on high alert. This ensures that search, rescue, and relief operations can be conducted efficiently if flooding occurs.Top of Form
