Patna: A high- level meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Bihar Chief Secretary on Monday to address the pressing concerns surrounding the impending heat wave and soaring temperatures. The meeting of the Bihar Crisis Management Group, saw the participation of key officials from various departments including Water Resources, Energy, Agriculture, Minor Water Resources, Health, Urban Development and Housing, Public Health Engineering, and Animal and Fisheries Resources.
The meeting commenced with a comprehensive briefing by the Director of the India Meteorological Department, who provided insights into the current temperature readings and projections for the next 15 days. Anticipating a potential 30-35% increase in temperatures, officials underscored the need for vigilance while reassuring that the spike would not surpass the levels experienced in previous years.
The Animal and Fisheries Resources Department detailed arrangements for ensuring adequate drinking water supply to livestock, including the provision of troughs. Additionally, departments outlined their respective contingency plans and prior preparations to mitigate the impact of the heat wave on both humans and animals.
Chief Secretary Brijesh Mehrotra, in his directives to all departments, emphasized the criticality of proactive measures in tackling the impending heat wave. Urging officials to remain vigilant and make necessary arrangements, the Chief Secretary underscored the government’s commitment to safeguarding public health and welfare amidst challenging climatic conditions.
