Patna: In the wake of student protests in New Delhi, Patna and several other districts of Bihar, the Bihar Police Headquarters has cancelled the leave of all police personnel until further orders as part of heightened security measures.
An order issued on Thursday stated that leave will not be granted except under exceptional circumstances.
The Police Headquarters has also directed the Law and Order Division to instruct all Range Inspectors General (IGs), Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) to maintain enhanced vigilance across the state.
Police Asked to Remain on 24×7 Alert
Anticipating further protests, demonstrations and dharnas by student organisations, the state police and district administration have been instructed to remain on 24-hour alert.
Officials have been directed to conduct flag marches at major intersections and sensitive locations in cities as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order.
Social Media Monitoring Intensified
The Police Headquarters has also ordered continuous monitoring of Facebook, X, Instagram, WhatsApp groups and other digital platforms to identify and prevent the spread of misinformation that could trigger unrest.
Authorities have been instructed to identify individuals circulating false or misleading information and initiate appropriate legal action against them.
Districts Collecting Intelligence on Student Groups
Following the directive, district police units have begun gathering advance intelligence on the activities and planned programmes of student organisations.
Police have also been instructed to keep crowd-control equipment, including vajra (anti-riot) vehicles and water cannons, in a state of operational readiness round the clock to respond swiftly to any law and order situation.
The heightened security measures come amid growing student protests in parts of the country, with the Bihar Police aiming to ensure public safety and prevent any escalation of unrest across the state.
