Patna: The Bihar government has intensified preparations for police recruitment and internal security, opening up large-scale employment opportunities while simultaneously strengthening the state’s law enforcement and intelligence systems.

More than 16 lakh candidates are expected to appear for written examinations in June for a total of 5,312 constable posts across the Prohibition, Jail, Transport, Wireless and Special Branch departments.

At the same time, 35,857 candidates will appear for the mains examination on May 27 for recruitment to 1,799 sub-inspector (daroga) posts.

Officials said candidates will not be allowed to enter examination centres without admit cards and valid photo identity proof. Admit cards will not be sent by post. Mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, pens and other electronic gadgets have been completely prohibited inside examination centres.

Alongside the recruitment process, the Bihar Cabinet has approved several measures aimed at strengthening internal security and administrative infrastructure.

The state government has created a new post of Inspector General (IG) Border to enhance border security and monitoring. In another key decision, the cabinet approved the fixed deployment of 50 specially trained STF personnel for up to 15 years to intensify anti-Naxal operations in the state.

The cabinet has also approved 53 new posts in the Science and Technology sector and cleared the “Young Professional Policy-2026.”

Special Branch Constable Exam On June 24

The written examination for 83 constable posts in the Special Branch will be held on June 24 in a single shift from 10 am to 1:30 pm.

The examination will consist of two papers, and appearing in both papers will be mandatory. Negative marking will also be applicable.

Candidates will be able to check details of their examination centres from June 11, while admit cards can be downloaded between June 18 and June 24.

Wireless Constable Operator Exam On June 21

The written examination for 993 constable operator posts in Bihar Police Telecommunications (Wireless) will be conducted on June 21 from 12 noon to 2 pm.

Candidates must report to centres between 10 am and 11 am. No entry will be allowed after 11 am.

Applicants can check their examination district details from June 8, while admit cards will be available for download from June 15 to June 21.

Officials said elaborate arrangements are being made to ensure fair and transparent examinations amid the massive number of applicants appearing for various police recruitment drives in Bihar.
