Patna: Bihar Government will host a three-day national horticulture event, the “Bihar Nursery and Green-Tech Conclave 2026”, in Patna from March 21 to 23, aiming to modernise nursery management and boost farmers’ incomes through technology-driven practices.
The conclave, organised by the state agriculture department’s horticulture directorate, will take place at Gyan Bhawan and centre on the theme “Parampara Se Pragati Tak” (from tradition to progress). Officials say it will be the first event of its kind in the state to bring together stakeholders from across the country.
Speaking at a press briefing at Krishi Bhawan, agriculture minister Ram Kripal Yadav said the conclave would introduce farmers engaged in traditional horticulture to modern techniques aimed at increasing productivity and income. He added that innovations and new technologies in agriculture and horticulture would be showcased during the event.
According to the minister, the initiative is expected to support the adoption of advanced practices, improve output and productivity of horticultural crops, and strengthen Bihar’s position in the sector. The event will see participation from nursery growers, agricultural universities, scientists, farmers and traders, who will exchange research, experiences and ideas on horticulture development.
Yadav said the conclave would provide a platform for farmers and nursery operators to learn about new plant varieties, modern technologies and emerging market opportunities. He also linked the initiative to the state’s broader agricultural roadmap under chief minister Nitish Kumar, which he said had contributed to rising farm incomes and economic growth.
The programme will include “Udyan Pathshala” sessions to train farmers and young people in modern horticulture techniques. A dedicated “Chanakya Horti-Pitch” initiative will allow startups and entrepreneurs to present business ideas and seek investment, with the department offering support to selected ventures.
Officials said the adoption of modern horticulture practices could generate local employment opportunities, particularly for young people and women. The conclave will also feature digital tools such as QR codes and interactive kiosks to provide information to visitors, along with a “Green Innovation Zone” aimed at educating children about agriculture and the environment.
The minister urged farmers, nursery operators, entrepreneurs and the general public to participate in large numbers.
