Motihari: A 16-year-old minor girl fell victim to a brutal murder at the hands of her own father. The father, identified as Ram Pravesh Sah, allegedly took this extreme step due to his daughter’s love affair, which he strongly disapproved of.
The horrifying incident took place on February 7th when the minor daughter went missing. A frantic search led to the discovery of her body on the 8th February, discarded in a field approximately one kilometer away from her home. Initially, her father had filed a First Information Report (FIR) against four individuals, including her lover, accusing them of the murder and disposal of the body.
In response, Superintendent of Police Kantesh Mishra swiftly initiated an investigation, forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the leadership of Raxaul SDPO Dhirendra Kumar. The team delved into the case with a scientific approach.
As the investigation progressed, suspicion shifted towards the minor’s father, Ram Pravesh Sah. Initially denying any involvement in his daughter’s death, he eventually confessed to the crime during police interrogation. The disturbing revelations brought to light a complex tale of a love affair, familial discord, and a father’s extreme actions.
According to Sah, his daughter had been in a relationship with a young man, leading to frequent phone conversations. Despite Sah’s attempts to intervene and multiple instances of his daughter running away from home, he had fixed her marriage elsewhere, scheduled for April 26 in the Ramgarhwa police station area. Wedding preparations were in progress when tragedy struck.
On the night of February 7th, the minor daughter escaped once again. Fearing the loss of his family’s honor and reputation, Sah chased and caught her. Despite urging her to return home, she refused. Overwhelmed by a sense of perceived dishonor, Sah confessed to strangling his daughter to death. After her demise, he used her scarf to conceal the crime, disposing of her body in a nearby field before fleeing the scene.
Raxaul SDPO Dhirendra Kumar announced the successful resolution of the Kavita murder case, with the arrested father facing charges. The investigation into the accusations against four individuals, including Kavita’s lover, continues.
The dedicated team leading the inquiry includes Darpa police station incharge Pranay Kumar and PSI Abhay Kumar Yadav.
