Patna: Team Bihar delivered a strong performance at the IndiaSkills 2025–26 regional competition (East) held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, winning a total of 28 medals and securing qualification for the national round.
Participants from the state claimed five gold, five silver and 12 bronze medals, along with six Medallions of Excellence. All medal winners will now advance to the national-level competition. In addition, Ashish Rajvansh and Mo Hussain secured direct entry to the nationals through walkovers in aircraft maintenance and car painting respectively.
Officials from the Bihar Skill Development Mission (BSDM), which operates under the state’s department of youth, employment and skill development, attended the closing ceremony. Hemant Kumar Singh, additional chief executive officer of the mission, said the achievement represented “a new identity for Bihar’s skill development”, expressing confidence that the state’s youth would go on to compete at national and international levels.
Singh also credited the preparations led by Manish Shankar, managing director, and Amit Kumar of EY, saying the results reflected months of structured training and planning.
The gold medallists were Mohammad Ali (IT network system administration), Prince (logistics and freight forwarding), Hariom Harsh (mobile application development), MD Dilkhush (refrigeration and air conditioning), and Abhinav Kumar (software application development).

Silver medals were awarded to Saqlain Khan (cooking), Shashwat Kumar Singh and Suman Kumar (cyber security), Ritu Raj (mobile application development), and Yash Raj (painting and decoration).
Bronze winners included Khushi Kumari (bakery), Dimple Kumari (beauty therapy), Mausam Giri (cloud computing), Neeraj Kumar (digital construction), Sahil Kumar (electrical installation), Sneha Kumari (floristry), Prahlad Roy (ICT network infrastructure), Santosh Kumar (mechatronics), Suraj Kumar (renewable energy), Divyam Raj (software application development), Uday Kumar (water technology), and Abhinandan Kumar (water technology).
In the Medallion of Excellence category, honours went to Akshay Kumar (bricklaying), Roshan Kumar (floristry), Aditya Kumar (CAD), Jiut Kumar (mechanical engineering), Dev Singh (refrigeration and air conditioning), and Hrithik Raj (web technology).
Officials said the performance followed an extensive preparation programme conducted at district, divisional and state levels. After state-level selection, participants underwent a six-day intensive training camp involving more than 3,000 cumulative hours of skill enhancement, focusing on technical proficiency, confidence-building and competitive readiness.
With the regional round complete, attention now turns to the national competition, where Bihar’s participants will seek to build on what state officials described as a landmark achievement in skill development.
