Patna: Asserting that Bihar’s industrial development has been moving at a rapid pace under Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary’s leadership, state’s Industries Minister Shreyasi Singh on Friday said the state has attracted 1091 investment proposals worth Rs 1,21,863 crore since 2025.
These proposals have the potential to generate more than 68,807 employment opportunities in the state, Singh said while outlining her department’s resolve to establish Bihar as an “important investment destination”.
The state government’s emphasis on developing infrastructure coupled with a conducive environment, essential facilities, and investor-friendly policies have made it possible to attract such huge investment proposals.
Singh- who was accompanied by Department’s Secretary Kundan Kumar, Handloom & Sericulture Director Bidya Nand Singh & MSME Director Aman Samir – was addressing a press conference here at Soochna Bhawan’s conference hall to highlight her department’s achievements and future plans.
Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City Gaya Limited (BIMCGL)
The development of Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City Gaya Limited (BIMCGL), spread across approximately 1,670 acres in Gaya Ji, is progressing rapidly. This project has the potential to promote large-scale manufacturing activities, attract industrial investment, and generate new employment opportunities. Its development is expected to give a new direction to Bihar’s industrial landscape.
“The project is scheduled to be inaugurated by the Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary tomorrow in Dobhi area near Bodh Gaya along with the launch of the web portal. Following this, the process of land allotment will begin,” Singh said.
Compared with other states in India, where integrated manufacturing cities of this kind are being developed at 14 locations, Bihar is among the leading states working rapidly to implement this scheme on the ground, she added.
Highlighting the importance of BIMCGL, Industries Department’s Secretary Kundan Kumar said that Bihar, for the first time, is developing an industrial manufacturing city equipped with all the ultra-modern facilities required for manufacturing.
“Now, the concept is evolving from an industrial area to an industrial city. This means that the city will have various amenities, recreational facilities, and sports facilities. At the same time, it will include all the necessary systems related to pollution control to ensure that the industrial park remains environmentally clean. This will include a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP). An Integrated Control and Command Centre will also be established there,” Kumar said.
Kumar said that the state government is eyeing to attract investment from other countries like ASEAN and other Southeast Asian countries as a large number of people and tourists visit both Gaya and Bodh Gaya which are important centres for Buddhism.
Availability and Expansion of Industrial Land

Stating that the state government has been working hard to make land available to entrepreneurs, the Minister said that the work is currently underway to make more than 14,600 acres of new industrial land available for industrial activities in Bihar.
Keeping future industrial requirements in mind, the land acquisition process is being advanced for the development of new industrial areas at 28 locations across 25 districts of the state, she said adding that this will help strengthen land availability for large- and medium-scale industrial projects in Bihar.
Progress in Land Allotment through BIADA
Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) has allotted 727.02 acres of land to 521 units from the beginning of the financial year 2025-26 to till date, Singh said and added that these projects envisage an investment of Rs 18,380.25 crore and the creation of 49,167 employment opportunities.
This progress in land allotment is a significant step towards expanding industrial activities in the state and translating investment proposals into on-ground projects, she added.
Besides, a network of 94 industrial areas has been developed in Bihar. The state has over 32 lakh square feet of plug-and-play industrial infrastructure, enabling entrepreneurs to commence business operations with ready-to-use facilities, the minister said adding that efforts are also being made to strengthen basic infrastructure in industrial areas, including roads, electricity, water supply, and security, while ensuring the availability of industrial space at competitive costs.
Development of Major Industrial Projects
Several important projects are being undertaken in the state to promote sector-specific industrial activities.
Recently on October 15, 2026, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated the mega leather, footwear, and accessories park along with a common facility centre at Mahwal in Muzaffarpur district. In addition, projects such as the Model Green Industrial Area at Jhanjharpur and Special Economic Zone (SEZ)-related projects at Kumarbagh and Nawanagar (Buxar) are also being advanced.
Special Focus on Semiconductors and Emerging Technologies

Through the Bihar Semiconductor Policy 2026, initiatives have been undertaken to promote the development of advanced technology-based industries in the state. A new technology centre is being established in Patna with an investment of Rs 171 crore across an area of 15 acres. These initiatives aim to develop technological capabilities in the state, attract new investments, and create a favourable environment for future industries.
