Patna/Jehanabad: Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited (BSPGCL) Managing Director Vishal Raj inspected the 7.783 MW grid-connected solar power plant at Pakhanpur in Jehanabad district on Friday and reviewed its operations, electricity generation and benefits to farmers.
The plant, established under the PM-KUSUM scheme, is generating more than 40,000 units of electricity daily, according to BSPGCL.
Farmers Receive Rs 40,000 Per Acre
During the inspection, Vishal Raj interacted with farmers associated with the project and reviewed the status of land lease payments.
Farmers are being paid Rs 40,000 per acre per year as lease rent for the land used for the solar project.
The farmers told him that some of the leased land had remained affected by waterlogging for a long period, making cultivation difficult and reducing crop yields.
The land is now being used for solar power generation, providing farmers with a regular source of income.

RESCO Developer Receives Timely Payments
The project is also benefiting the RESCO developer involved in the solar power generation initiative.
According to the information provided, distribution companies pay around Rs 40 lakh per month to the developer for the electricity generated under the project.
Timely payments are helping strengthen the confidence of the developer in investing in the project.
Solar Power Supports Rural Economy
The Pakhanpur solar plant demonstrates how land that was difficult to use for agriculture can be utilised for renewable energy generation while providing farmers with a regular income.
The project is also contributing to solar power generation and the expansion of renewable energy infrastructure in Bihar, while supporting economic activity in the rural area.
