Patna: The Bihar government will organise job fairs in all districts of the state from next year, in addition to divisional-level job fairs, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said on Sunday. He said the government aims to provide jobs and employment opportunities to one crore people over the next five years.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the Patna Mega Job Fair, Choudhary said the government was working to ensure that young people do not have to leave Bihar in search of livelihoods.
The chief minister said the Patna job fair provided employment opportunities to 20,226 youths. Of these, 3,940 secured jobs in Bihar, while 476 were selected for employment opportunities abroad. Thirty-six persons with disabilities also received employment opportunities through the event.
Job fairs to be expanded across Bihar
Choudhary said job fairs would be organised at the district level from next year to provide greater access to employment opportunities for young people across the state.
He also highlighted the government’s efforts to improve access to technical education and skill development. According to him, polytechnic education is being offered for Rs 5 and engineering education for Rs 10 in Bihar, while free language classes are being provided to help young people secure employment opportunities abroad.
1.81 crore women received Rs 10,000 assistance
The chief minister said 1.81 crore women have received Rs 10,000 each under the Mukhyamantri Rojgar Yojana.
He added that 25 lakh youths have so far been trained under the Bihar Skill Development Mission, while 120 lakh youths have received certificates under the Kushal Yuva Programme.
The government has also opened 511 model schools as part of efforts to improve the education sector. Choudhary said degree-level education would now be made available at the block level.
Focus on jobs, industry and infrastructure
Choudhary said the Bihar government was undertaking large-scale initiatives to promote employment, industry and infrastructure in the state.
He said the government was developing a 126-km-long Marine Drive under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, with an estimated cost of around Rs 70,000 crore.
Rehabilitation training centre inaugurated
During the programme, Choudhary inaugurated a Rehabilitation Training Centre at the Bihar Institute of Mental Health and Allied Sciences in Bhojpur.
Specialised training centres were also launched for skill development, livelihood promotion and orientation of persons with disabilities and members of the transgender community.
Senior officials and ministers, including Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Arun Shankar Prasad and Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit, were present at the programme.
