Patna: The Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) will take out a yatra across Bihar ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections. This decision was made during a meeting of the INDIA alliance’s coordination committee, held on Wednesday at the residence of Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav in Patna. The yatra will be launched next month, after the festival of Rakshabandhan.
Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is expected to join Tejashwi Prasad Yadav in this yatra. According to the leaders, the aim of the campaign is to reach out to people at the grassroots level and highlight what they call the failures of the NDA government in Bihar. Tejashwi claimed there has been a scam worth Rs 70,000 crore in the state and also alleged that voters’ names are being unfairly removed from the electoral list.
The yatra will cover every division of Bihar, and its detailed route and schedule will be announced soon. National-level leaders from all parties in the alliance will participate. The leaders plan to hold big public events during the yatra to gather support ahead of the elections.
Congress state president Rajesh Ram also confirmed Rahul Gandhi’s participation in the campaign. Tejashwi said he had spoken to Rahul about the yatra, and the Congress leader agreed to be part of it. The Grand Alliance hopes this yatra will help them connect with voters and build momentum against the ruling NDA.
